What I Think Of The House of Commons?

I keep seeing pictures on social media, on newspapers of MPs asleep in the House of Commons and this really has annoyed me.

Here I am working, yes I sit in a few boring meetings that could put me to sleep but I readjust myself and sit in another position.

I know for a fact that if I was to fall asleep in work I would be spoken to by my bosses and yes these MPs maybe spoken to but they get paid a decent wage for what.

According to the UK Parliament website the basic annual salary for an MP from 1 April 2020 is £81,932, they also receive expenses to cover the costs of running an office, employing staff, having somewhere to live in London or their constituency, and travelling between Parliament and their constituency.

As of April 2010 the basic annual salary for an MP was £65,738, in ten years that is an increase of £16,194.

The Panel of Chairs is made up of those MPs chosen by the Speaker at the start of each session to chair Public Bill committees and other general committees in the House of Commons. They get an additional £16,422 a year onto their salary.

They get all of this money for what for them to spend it on fancy meals and fall asleep in the House of Commons, in which I have done a little bit of digging on those who have fallen asleep.
