REVISIT: The Ordinary Serum Foundation SPF 15

I did a blog on this foundation back in 2018, click here if you want to read it but I thought I would repurchase it in a lighter shade to try out and see what I think of it compared to when I tried in years ago.

HOW TO:

  1. Shake before use.

  2. Dispense a small amount into the palm or the back of your hand.

  3. Smooth on and blend throughout the face, ideally outward from the midpoint of the face.

Before we start I use the Benefit POREfessional on the right side of my face (left in the picture). I use this primer when I have a long day so thought I would see how it works with and without primer. Also the only other face product I use is a bronzer to contour, I don’t want to use any concealer or powders that might effect the way the foundation sits and the end review will be a full face.

Sponge

Every time I do a first impression or review of a foundation I get a brand new Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge that I went.

Bare face with just skincare.

Primer only on the one side, blending it out using my fingers.

Applied the foundation with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge, now last time when I tried it I found that it was quite powdery, lightweight but medium coverage whereas I do agree that it is medium coverage but not as powdery and I feel this is because my skin isn't as dry, I have a better skincare routine, still dry but not mega dry.

Contoured using my Zoeva brush using my Benefit Hoola bronzer.

Rest of the makeup done, hair done, teeth brushed and got dress and my makeup has started looking powdery so quickly. I am just hoping that as the day goes on that my skin will warm up and create natural oils to make the skin look less powdery.

1pm: The foundation has oxidised slightly, annoying but looks slightly better and isn't as powdery as much but does cling to dry patches.

7pm: It isn't as dry looking but I look a mess.

Brush

Every time I do a first impressions or review of a foundation I use a clean Morphe M6 Flat Buffer Foundation brush.

No makeup at all just skincare.

Primer on the one side.

Foundation applied using my Morphe brush.

Contoured using my Zoeva brush using my Benefit Hoola bronzer.

Makeup all done and it looks powdery.

7:45pm: Worn out looking and the

Fingers

Bare faced.

Primer on one side of the face.

Foundation applied using my fingers, definitely didn't like the look of it this way.

Contoured using my Zoeva brush using my Benefit Hoola bronzer.

Makeup all done and it looks powdery and patchy.

7:30pm: Definitely looks a bit better than when it was applied.

Full Face

I want to see whether or not if a full face of makeup will disturb the foundation.

Skincare on.

Primed the whole face.

Foundation applied using a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge.

Concealer used is from Collection, I blended it in using my Real Techniques brush.

Contoured using my Zoeva brush using my Benefit Hoola bronzer.

Highlight the nose and cheeks using my CYO Bronzing & Highlighting Palette in Lost in Space and a Morphe brush.

Setting spray.

Makeup all done and looking quite powdery.

7pm: I feel like my skin looks better now rather than when I first did my makeup.

Date Tried: Tuesday 29th March 2022

My overall opinion is that it is not suitable for somebody with dry skin, it oxidises and looks powdery, the last time I wore this I wore a different shade and wasn't as pale. I originally gave it 2 out of 5, I was give it the same sort of score this time.
