REVIEW: Morphe X James Charles The Mini Palette

I went into Harrogate shopping area one lunchtime during the whole work from home because of corona virus, when I write this part it is Saturday 21st March so I don't know what it is going to be like so but anyway I went with my brother to get some lunch and popped into Boots and Louie (my brother) pointed this out, this Boots store doesn't have a Morphe section and I thought I would try it out.

CLAIMS:

  • Unleash your inner artist with this mini palette.

  • Perfect for on-the-go glam, you can create literally any look you can imagine.

  • The color never ends with this full spectrum of 39 dialed-up, deeply pigmented shades.

  • With four rows of stunning color combos and one a row of super-sized shades, you’ll be ready to take on any look you can dream up.

PACKAGING:

Regards the packaging I have mentioned in Huda Beauty Palette review blog post I don't like cardboard palettes, I like the matte black with glossy black writing, I wish the names of the shades were either printed on the back or either under the shades instead of on the plastic because I am scared I will lose it and when I come to do another blog post I can't reference the shades.

Hi sisters!
James Charles here and welcome back to my palette! I love glam, but I also have a huge passion for crazy, colourful, outside-of-the-box makeup, and I created this palette with that in mind. I included every beautifully formulated shade necessary to create literally any look you could possibly imagine. I can’t wait to see what you come up with when you unleash your inner artist. -James Charles

Look #1

I applied my favourite eye primer on my right eye (left in the picture) to see if it works better with a primer.

Canvas: I brushed this shades all over the eye using my Real Techniques base shadow brush.

Boutique: using this shade to blend into my crease and slightly above using my Real Technique angled shadow brush.

Escape: I dipped a miscellaneous brush to blend into the crease and below this royal purple shade, I NEVER wear this sort of shade, it isn't as easily blend-able as I was hoping it would be.

Single: With a clean Real Techniques base shadow brush I pat this shade onto my lid, it is such a beautiful shade.

Artistry: With my Spectrum B04 I dusted this shade onto my lid, if you want a more impact I think you should use your finger for more of a WOW look.

Face: I wanted to highlight my inner eye using this shade on a Real Technique Accent Brush, really bad blogger forgot to take the photo.

Spooky: Real Techniques fine liner brush to line and blend this on my bottom water line. I used a liquid eyeliner for my top liner.

The finished look and I am definitely looking different, this is not usual look, I am very much a neutrals kind of gal but I pushed the boat out a bit.

UPDATE #1 (9pm): The eyeshadow doesn't look that bad, I didn't realise how more pigmented the left (my right) looks.

Date Tried: Saturday 21st March 2020

Look #2

Primed my eye, only my right eye (left in the picture).

Code James: using my Real Techniques Blending Crease Brush I blended Code James into my crease as well as above.

Cola: using my Real Techniques Base Brush I patted this shade onto my lid and also blended below my lash line, it's darker on the eye with the primer.

So Good: using my Real Techniques Accent Brush I put it on my lower inner corner and on.

Makeup all done, I feel the primed eye is more pigmented.

UPDATE #1 (4pm): You can see the eye without primer has smudges slightly, you can also see that the pigment collected in my fine line on the eyelid.

UPDATE #2 (9pm): How bad does my eye makeup look?

Date Tried: Monday 30th March 2020

Look #3

Primed my right eye (left in the picture)

Rusted: using my Real Techniques Blending Crease Brush I blended this shade into my crease and slightly above.

You're Kidding: using the same Real Techniques Blending Crease Brush I blend this shade into the crease and slightly under my eye using my Spectrum B04.

518: I used my Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush to blend this shade all over the lid.

Flashback: I wanted to highlight the corner of my eye using my Real Techniques Accent Brush.

518: I blended this shade also under my lower lash line using a different Real Techniques Accent Brush very lightly.

Makeup all done and I quite like this look.

UPDATE #1 (8pm): The eye without primer has smudged.

UPDATE #2 (10pm): Sorry about the first picture being blurry but look at the second picture where you can see that the eye without primer has really smudged and clung to the creases in my eye.

Date Tried: Tuesday 31st March 2020

Look #4

Primer applied, I guess you know the situation, right eye (left in the picture).

10% Off: blending this shade in the crease and above using Real Techniques Blending Crease Brush.

No Beans: using the same brush as last time I blended this shade in the crease.

Quac: using my Spectrum B04 I patted this shade onto my lid.

No Beans: using a clean Spectrum B04 I blended this shade on my bottom lash line.

Ringlight: using my Real Techniques Accent Brush I highlighted the corner of my eye.

I have never used green eyeshadow before and I quite like it.

UPDATE #1 (3pm): You can see the fine lines in my crease on both eyes.

UPDATE #2 (5:30pm): smudging on my unprimed eye.

UPDATE #3 (9:30pm): more smudging.

Date Tried: Monday 6th April 2020

Look #5

Primed the eye.

Mary: using my Real Techniques angled shadow brush to blend this shade into my crease and slightly above.

Canvas: with my Real Techniques base shadow brush I patted this shade lightly all over to soften the colour. I forgot to take a photo.

Boutique: back with my Real Techniques angled shadow brush I blend this shade into my crease and under the eye to give my eye a smokey look.

Halloween: using my Real Techniques base shadow brush I patted this shade onto the lid.

So Good: using a clean Real Techniques base shadow brush I patted this shade on the corner of my eyes and out slightly.

Ringlight: using my Real Techniques accent brush I highlight the inner of my eyes with this gorgeous shade.

I am really getting quite bold with my makeup looks and I know looking at this it isn't a Jeffrey Star style dramatic look but I was a basic eyeshadow look before.

UPDATE #1 (1pm): I love how it looks, I had a conference call through Teams and got so many compliments.

UPDATE #1 (9pm): The side without the primer isn't as vibrant but still both looking good.

Date Tried: Tuesday 7th April 2020

Look #6

I put my usual eye primer onto one eye, the usual eye.

Canvas: I used my Real Techniques base shadow brush to pat this shade onto the lid.

Pinch Me: I used my Real Techniques blending crease brush to blend this shade into the crease and slightly above.

Tea: with the same Real Techniques blending crease brush, I blended this shade into the crease.

So Good: I patted this shade onto the lid using a clean Real Techniques base shadow brush.

Rest of the makeup done as well as my Dutch hair-do

UPDATE #1 (9:30pm): Hair is down and I am tired, the eyeshadow has moved on the eye with no primer.

Date Tried: Monday 20th April 2020

Look #7

Primed my right eye (left in the picture).

Wig: I patted this shade all over the eyelid using my Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush.

Brother: using my Real Techniques Accent Brush I lined my lower lashes, adding a pop of colour.

I love this makeup, I actually really do, I never wear colour, expect to see a lot more of this look because I do LOVE it.

UPDATE #1 (3:00pm): My shadow has moved on the eye without primer.

UPDATE #2 (6:00pm): The eyeshadow has moved more on the eye without primer.

UPDATE #3 (7:00pm): I have been slightly emotional today so I may have cried (I did cry), I am impressed that the blue hasn't bled down my face.

Date Tried: Wednesday 22nd April 2020

Look #8

Primed my right eye (left in the picture).

Canvas: I used my Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush to put this shade all over the lid.

Punch Me: I used my Real Techniques Blending Crease Brush to blend this shade into the crease.

Face: I used my Spectrum B04 Shadow Brush to use this shade to highlight under my rows and used a Real Techniques Accent Brush to put this shade in the tear duct.

Another look I am loving, really loving the hair and makeup today.

UPDATE #1 (6:00pm): Still looking good.

UPDATE #1 (9:45pm): The eyeshadow has moved slightly on the unprimed eye but still looking good.

Date Tried: Saturday 25th April 2020

Look #9

Primed my eye, only the eye on the right (left in the picture).

Pinkity Drinkity: blended this shade into my eyelid using a Real Techniques base shadow brush.

Love That: I blend this shade into my crease and slightly above using my Real Techniques Blending Crease Brush.

No Beans: using my Zoeva 221 Luxe Soft Crease to blend into my crease.

Literally: I patted this shade onto my lid using my Spectrum B04 brush.

Flashback: I used my Real Techniques base shadow brush (a clean one) and blended this shade all over the eyelid to soft the look because I think it's a little too much for my office job.

Face: using my Real Techniques Accent Brush I put this shade on my tear duct to highlight.

Sorry for the out of focus picture but my phone wasn't focusing.

UPDATE #1 (10am): Doesn't look too bad, at the time I am trying a foundation or primer (can't remember) so it doesn't look the best, there is a slight movement on the eye without primer.

UPDATE #2 (6pm): The eyeshadow has definitely moved on the eye without primer.

Date Tried: Monday 13th July 2020

Look #10

Primed the eye, the only one eye.

Canvas: blend this into my eyelid and all over using my Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush.

Punch Me: blend this shade using my Zoeva 221 Luxe Soft Crease Brush.

Playground: I put this shade on using my Real Techniques Brow Brush on the under eye waterline and under that.

Ringlight: I put this shade on the tear duct using my Real Techniques Accent Brush.

Looking good, although my eyeliner is bothering me but that's nothing to do with the eyeshadow.

UPDATE #1 (5:30pm): The eyeshadow has slightly moved on the eye without the primer.

UPDATE #2 (6pm): I know it's only thirty minutes since the last update but I am tired and want to remove my makeup, the eyeshadow has definitely moved on the eye without primer.

I know I have used all of the shade but I tried quite a few, I really do like the eyeshadow palette, I recommend you use an eyeshadow primer, I think James Charles said you needed a primer or concealer underneath which I always use a primer but I do think it helps with the pigmentation and lasts long. You will see my score isn't 5 out of 5 but just because you NEED a base I have marked it down slightly. When I swatched the products I must admit I saw few more eyeshadow looks and maybe there might be another blog post on this palette in the future, a revisit, maybe, if this happens I will use the shades I never used which are Benny, Tune, Spooky, Bee, Hello, Social Blade, Daddy, Cape Cod, A Cappella, Single and Skip, but this blog post is a maybe.
