REVIEW: itsu Chicken Soup Dumplings

As soon as I saw these, I knew I had to have them. I absolutely love this kind of food, so the fact that it's now regularly available in the supermarket has me really excited to try them!

INGREDIENTS: Wheat Flour, Chicken (19%), Chicken Broth (17%) (Water, Chicken Bones, Gelling Agent: Agar; Spring Onion, Soy Sauce [Water, Soya Bean, Wheat, Salt], Ginger, Shiitake Mushroom, Salt, Star Anise), Water, Onion, Spring Onion (5%), Shiitake Mushroom, Wood Ear Mushroom, Soya Bean Protein, Soya Bean Oil, Soy Sauce (Water, Soya Bean, Wheat, Salt), Ginger, Sugar, Yeast Extract, Salt, Corn Starch, Garlic, Maltodextrin, White Pepper, Chicken Fat, Chicken Powder, Wheat, Turmeric


NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION (per pack):

  • Energy: 1004 kJ

HOW TO COOK:

Microwave: From Frozen

If microwaving, no need to open this bag

  1. Place sealed bag of soup dumplings in the microwave. [Please do not open or pierce bag!]

  2. Microwave for 2 mins 20 seconds [900W] or 2 mins 30 seconds [750W]

  3. Remove tray from bag and pierce the top of the dumplings with a fork or chopstick, leave to stand for 3 mins

2 mins 20 secs


Shallow fry: From Frozen

  1. Preheat pan with 1 tsp of oil on medium heat

  2. Add soup' dumplings and cook for 5 mins

  3. Carefully add 4 tbsp of cold water, cover with a lid and cook for a further 6 mins

  4. Leave to stand for 1 min

11 mins.


Steam: From Frozen

  1. Place colander/sieve above pan of softly boiling water

  2. Place soup dumplings in the colander/sieve, cover with a lid and steam for 12-14 mins

  3. Leave to stand for 1 min

12-14 mins



I did them in the microwave and oh my goodnes, they were delicious, I am definitely going to get more of these and see if there is any other flavours.
