Justice For Harry Dunn

I don't know how many of you have heard about Harry Dunn, if you haven't I will tell you.

The reason I wanted to do this blog post was to share this story as much as possible so we can get the justice for this poor guy and his family, I know I don’t have many followers but every little help.

On the evening of 27th August 2019, 19 year old Harry Dunn was riding his motorcycle on the B4031 when a Volvo XC90 driving on the wrong side of the road hit Harry off of his bike, now this was done 400 years from the exit from RAF Croughton. Emergency telephone call categorised Dunn's injuries as category 2 which means an ambulance should be there within 40 minutes but sadly he was pronounced dead at the Major Trauma Centre of John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Who killed Harry Dunn?

Anne Sacoolas, an American, wife of a US government employee working at the United States Air Force at RAF Croughton and mother of three children.

Now this was an accident, she has was cooperative with the police at the scene, breathalysed and even was interviewed the following day at home, she admits to driving on the wrong side of the road when she hit Harry. Now diplomatic immunity was mentioned during the interview so this means:

Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity that ensures diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the host country's laws, although they may still be expelled

The police applied for an immunity waiver later that day after interviewing her which means they can prosecute her. She said she had no plans of leaving the country however the waiver was declined and Anne, her husband Jonathan and their children left the UK on a US Air Force aircraft and went back to America. Anne had a previous driving infraction in the state of Virginia (USA) for failing to pay full time and attention.

Imagine being a parent and being told your child has been killed, imagine being told that the killer has fled the country, imagine being told there is not much that can be done, how heart breaking.

Nigel Farage had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump on his evening radio talk-show LBC on 1st November and he asked asked Trump if there were circumstances where Anne could return to the UK to face charges and Trump said: "Well, I would have to see what the final facts are... And, I'll take a look at the final facts. She's represented by a lawyer." If you want to see that then below:

Now Harry's parents like most parents have fought for justice and on 25th November they submitted a judicial review of the Foreign Secretary's actions over the extension of diplomatic immunity to intelligence staff and families at RAF Croughton. I agree that UK-US "secret treaties" shouldn't give immunity for family members, so Anne's husband works for the military but she doesn't so she shouldn't have immunity. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby had got involved, writing to the US ambassador in London, asking that the extradition of Anne Sacoolas should not be blocked, but nobody at the time responded.

Harry's parents filed a civil lawsuit in Virginia where Anne lives, the lawsuit was in hope of compelling her to return to England to face charges.

It was looking up when on 20th December 20219, the Crown Prosecution Service announced that Anne was to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving and that it was starting the proceedings to extradition. Anne's lawyer said that Anne will not return voluntarily to the UK to face potentially being jailed for 14 years so in other words there needs to be a case to get her over here, she won't just hold her hands up and face her punishment.

The thing is this happened in 2019 and in 2020 another vehicle traveling on the same road on the wrong side of the road hit a police vehicle, IN ENGLAND WE DRIVE ON THE LEFT!

Dunn family have urged that the UK government need to refuse the extradition request of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange which was made by the US government until they returned Sacoolas to the UK. I understand that, you give us Anne and we will give you Julian.

In 1995 an agreement was made that treated US staff at RAF Croughton and their families as part of the US embassy, granting them diplomatic immunity however in July 2020, the UK and US governments amended the arrangement to remove immunity from criminal prosecution for the family of US staff.

In my own opinion I think Joe Biden should agree that Anne Sacoolas should face the justice system in the UK but not only that I think she should be given more time in prison, the fact she fled when she knew she had done wrong, it is just disgusting and I hope every day she is haunted by this incident, that she can't cope with it because Harry's parents are suffering, they are suffering with the lose of their son but they are suffering with the fact that there has been no justice, that nobody is being punished.
