International Women's Day 2021

I wanted to share some women who have inspired me over the years.

Shonda Rhimes

You may all know her as the producer of Bridgerton but this powerful woman is a creator, director, writer, producer and just an all round amazing woman with an estimated net wroth of $135 million. How many black women in America can say they are this powerful? She was a writer of The Princess Diaries 2, creator, writer and producer of Grey's Anatomy, creator, writer and producer of Scandal, producer of How to Get Away with Murder, producer of Bridgerton and the list goes on. I have read stories about how hard it is for black people but also black women in America to become successful but Shonda shows you can do it.

Tina Turner

Of course I had to mention Tina Turner but this woman, I just love. If I won the lottery the first thing I am doing is trying to get ahold of Tina Turner's people and paying for a private show, it would be amazing. Another black woman who has had to fight to be successful but has managed it.

Debra (my mum)

My mum is inspiration, she had me at the young age of 18 and has had so much put in front of her, she didn't have the best of upbringings but she managed to do alright for herself. People putting her down but she always stays on top, how many people can say they have raised seven children (all with the same mum and dad) without benefits, got a job and also started a university course whilst working. I love that if I ever need anything she is there for me, she has helped me to understand that life isn't free, I have to work hard for what I want and to appreciate what I have. One thing negative is I don't have many photos of me and her together and this year that will change.
