FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation

I have heard about this foundation about it being really good for those with dry skin so I ordered it now I didn't get the brush that they recommend you use with it which is NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation Brush because I wanted to see how it works with my two usual products Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and Real Techniques Buffing Brush.

CLAIMS:

  • With just a few drops, it delivers sheer-to-full coverage and a velvety, matte finish.

  • Simply adjust the number of drops you use until the desired level of coverage is achieved.

  • More drops = more coverage

  • Light coverage = 2 drops

  • Medium coverage = 3 drops

  • Full coverage = 4 drops

PACKAGING:

When I got the box I saw it and opened it up and the bottle was so small and didn't realise how small it was. Packaging is nice, glass frosted bottle, plastic pipette dropper.

HOW TO:

  1. Take your coverage from sheer to full as you continue to add drops.

  2. Apply and blend using the Total Control Drop Foundation Brush for a stunning finish.

I used my regular day moisturiser prior to applying the foundation and allowed it to full sink in because I had read that if you don't let it sink in longer it won't worker properly and will look streaky.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge: I used my sponge my right side (left in the picture), it is easily blendable with the sponge and a nice coverage, I used more than 4 drops just for this side. You can still see the spot I have above my eyebrow.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush: I have to admit using the brush doesn't give as much coverage and doesn't look as good as the side I used the sponge, it just wasn't as easily blendable as the sponge so I wonder how the brush designed for this foundation is, maybe depending how this goes I might do a revisit blog post and buy that brush for that.

I have decided that now that I have revamped the blog, you may have noticed the blog posts have revamped slightly so when I do first impressions on foundations I never use concealers or bits because I always want to see how the foundations work on their own so I have also shown you what products I have used on the day, you may notice these photos on another blog post coming up soon which will be a first impressions on the mascara. You may have noticed already that the foundation has creased already under the eyes, I know people probably say bake but when I do first impressions I want to know what the foundation is like without the extra steps other people do, if I wanted to do a basic quick look I would bake and set like that.

Update #1 (2pm): Skin looks matte.

Update #2 (9pm): Sorry for how fuzzy and poor quality it is but my skin looks dry patchy where I have been laying (I had a nap).

I'm not sure if I like this foundation, definitely prefer the side with the sponge but I have noticed that if you scrunch your nose the nostrils creases, it just creases a lot, crows feet creases, smiles lines all sorts of creases form. I have quite a few items to try out but I will probably do a revisit for this foundation in a month or two (maybe).
