BATTLE OF THE DUPES #60: Aldi (Worldwide Foods) vs. Tilda

I love the Tilda lime and coriander rice, it is delicious so when I saw Aldi did a version I had to try it.

INGREDIENTS.(Aldi):

Cooked Basmati Rice (92%) (Water, Basmati Rice), Coconut Cream (4%), Sunflower Oil, Coriander (1%), Lime Zest (0.5%), Sugar, Kaffir Lime Leaf, Salt, Flavouring

Natural Basmati Rice - Steamed (90%), Coconut Cream (4%), Sunflower Oil, Coriander (1.4%), Sugar, Kaffir Lime (Peel, Leaf) (0.8%), Natural Flavourings

HOW TO.(Aldi):

Microwave:

  1. 750W 2 mins, 850W 2 mins, 1000W 1 1/2 mins.

  2. Squeeze pouch gently to separate rice grains.

  3. Tear or cut the top of the pouch by about 2 cm.

  4. Place the pouch upright in the microwave and heat for the time specified.

  5. Remove pouch from microwave and tear open.


Hob:

  1. 2-3 mins.

  2. Place 45 ml of water into a saucepan and bring to the boil.

  3. Add the contents of the pouch, cover and simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and product has reached a palatable temperature.

  4. Ensure product is thoroughly cooked and piping hot throughout.

  5. Place the rice on a plate and fluff up with a fork. Serve immediately.

  6. Do not reheat.

  1. Squeeze pouch, tear strip, microwave 800W 2 mins

These two taste amazing, I couldn't tell them apart, I am so pleased that I can get a cheaper alternative.
